Garden Gabions

What Garden Projects Are Best for Gabion Planters?

You can do just about anything with a round or square gabion planter, but you'll need to start out with your favorite one and a bucket, flower pot or another container.
Put the container inside the planter and make sure to tie your planter across the top, so when you fill it, the frame won't bulge or bend. Add rocks all the way around it, until you can no longer see the container from the sides. Remove the tie and put down the lid for your container. You can then cut out a hole the size of the container, secure the lid with wire, begin potting soil into your container and fill it with plants of your choice.
This process can be used for landscaping your entire garden, or you can use it for decorative plants and special items around your door to add some extra style.

What Are the Advantages of Gabion Planters?

One of the biggest reasons to use a gabion structure is to facilitate drainage. With all the surrounding rocks, you don't have to worry about water seeping out too quickly or pooling up. This also helps the surrounding area by protecting it against erosion from the water in your plants.
Whether it's for decoration or durability, you get to choose what kind of fill you want to put into the planter. And of course, the planter itself looks appealing.
